The Franklin Civic-Operetta celebrated its 51st season with the musical-comedy, "Kiss Me, Kate," about a touring troupe in 1948 performing Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" in town after town. It's a hilarious play-within-a-play, with the two stars (Bret Sloan and Jamie Agnello) duking it out onstage and behind the scenes. The Cole Porter classics, "So In Love," "Too Darn Hot," "From This Moment On" and "Wundebar" are bound to be familiar to many theater-goers. Under the direction of Ted Smith, a.k.a. The Wizard, the musical comedy is mixed into an entertaining brew that Shakespeare himself would surely have enjoyed.
