Featured author Edward J. Bergin of Franklin PA envisions
the Oil Heritage Region becoming a tourism boomtown, akin
to Williamsburg VA, Branson MO and Tombstone AZ.
Many of the required resources are already in place,
including significant historical sites throughout the area.
Among these, the historic 1753 visit to present-day Franklin
by young Major George Washington (left); the 18-month
boomtown of Pithole City (above), epic oil boom churches
such as Trinity UM in Oil City (right) and the electric
trolley replica - the National Transit Express.

The glory days of Monarch Park (1896-1926)
are presented by Oil City historian William Bowen, illustrated with
several pages of postcards & photos from the Venango County theme
park's heyday. It was located midway between Oil City & Franklin,
along Deep Hollow Road, in Cranberry Township. Travel to the park
was mainly by electric trolley, depicted above in the Franklin
alleyway mural by Edmond Ramage.
